CHAPTER 1: A Day in the Life of Amiko and Emiko

Everyone has one of those days when you wish you could just do it all over. One morning, Amiko Ichimoto, woke up very sleepily, rubbing the sleep from her eyes before opening them to stare up the ceiling. She then turns her gaze towards her still-sleeping sister, Emiko, as she slowly waved her hand in front of her face before bringing it to her nose. She slowly opened her eyes and started rubbing them, with her sister literally lending her a hand. The two girls gave out long, breathy yawns as they got up from bed and let their blanket roll off their shared body. From anyone's first impression, they would think they were looking at a Japanese cat-girl in her late teens with two heads on her shoulders. But the two are actually conjoined twins of the dicephalus type, sharing one body below the necks with a medium size-breasted torso and a long, dark brown tail that both have control over. Amiko controls the right half of their body while Emiko control the left. Other then the physical appearance, the two are just like any other pair of identical twins. As Amiko is the mature and reserved of the two with her long jet black hair, Emiko is more playful and mischievous with her hair shortened.

The sisters turned their body toward the dresser and took a look at a small, digital clock and all four hazel brown eyes went wide with alarm. "Oh, crap!" they exclaimed in unison. "We're late!" The twins leapt out of their bed in their lite blue pajamas and darted towards the closet, prying it open as they hurriedly inspected their clothes. "Let's wear this," said Emiko, grabbing a hot pink tank top off its hanger. "Okay, that looks good," Amiko said as she grabbed a pair of shorts to go with it. In terms of picking outfits, Amiko picks what they wear one day and Emiko the next. There are also times when both chose their clothes together on compromising. This day, and moment, was an exception due to the urgency behind it. Soon after, they bolted out of their bedroom and into the bathroom to look their best for the date they have planned with their boyfriend. After making the finishing touches with their makeup, the twins sprinted down the stairs, through the kitchen without a bite to eat, and out of the house towards the train station.

However, once half way there, the twins realized they had left their train pass, cellphone and wallet behind. "It's times like these when I wish we were morning people," Emiko said as they hurried back home. "Don't remind me," said Amiko. "I knew we shouldn't have scheduled that date so early in the morning." "Me too; we're the ones usually on time. But then again, that was the only time we could get tickets for that movie; all the other times were sold out." "It's times like these where I wish we had scheduled our date sooner." The two charged up the stairs of the house, grabbed the pass and wallet, ran down the stairs, grabbed the cell phone, and ran back out the door. By the time they made it to the train station, they were almost completely out of breath as they sank to hands and knees, breathing heavily. The two gave thought over the fact their older brother, Daisuke, took the car they could had used to get to his work place. They also wished that their bicycle was out of the local bike shop yesterday to make it easier for them to move without running themselves to death.

Once catching their breath and getting on their feet, the twins decide to call their date to tell him that they will be late. Unfortunately, the twins have a shocked look on their faces when they saw the last bar on their phone's battery give out as the cell dies on them. "I knew we should've charged this thing before we went to bed last night," Both moaned as Emiko put the phone away. To make matters worse, they noticed their train making its departure without them and try to dart after it to no avail as they stopped on the edge of the platform and hung their heads low as they walked over to a nearby bench to sit on, with Emiko the first to notice a man sitting on it. "When does the next train come?" she asked the man. "In about ten minutes," he said, looking at his watch. "Thank you, sir," said Amiko as the twins gently bowed in respect. "You're welcome," the man said without even noticing the twins' appearance.

Deciding to find a way to tell their boyfriend that they would be late, the sisters took a look around the station for a pay phone to use, each finding one some distance away in opposite directions. "Let's use that," the two said in unison, pointing to their respective pay phones before looking at each other. "That one's closer," Amiko said, pointing to the pay phone she found. Emiko nodded in agreement as they walked over to the pay phone, and fished around in their wallet for some change, but all they found was a few 1000 yen bills, a 5000 yen bill, and a 10000 yen bill. Faced with that, they headed to a nearby kiosk, and after waiting in line for about a minute or so, made it to the front, where a cashier waited. "Excuse us," said Emiko, holding up one of the 1000 yen bills. "Do you have any change for 1000 yen?" "Of course, ma'am," said the cashier as the twins handed her the bill. "Thank you," Amiko said as they took change and darted back to the phone.

Amiko picked up the headset and held it between her and her sister's heads as Emiko started to insert a 100 yen coin into the booth, but she stopped partway and took it out of the slot. "Uh, do you remember the phone number, Amiko? I don't," she said. "Me neither," Amiko replied. "Sorry, Emiko. What time is it, anyway?" "It's, uh..." Emiko craned her neck around to find a clock, admittedly not an easy task with her sister in the way before Amiko finds Emiko in dread as she resumed her normal position. "It's 11:00; we should've been at the theater by now." "What? Are you serious?" Amiko craned her neck to make sure, equally horrified seeing the clock hanging from the scaffolding of the booth with its hands positioned at 11:00! "Oh, no. Now we're really late." "Let's get moving!" The two say as they have completely forgotten about the pay phone and ran off to the theater and hopefully to a very understanding boyfriend.

By the time they finally got to the theater, the twins were exhausted as they doubled over to catch their breath. "Oh, man," Emiko whined as she panted heavily. ìWeíre going to die if we keep doing this." "No time for that, Emiko," replied Amiko. "We've got to find Ataru-chan and tell him we're sorry." "Yeah, you're right, but what about that crowd?" They looked up in dismay at the huge crowd gathering in front of the theater, seeing their guy's face not among them. "Do you think he left already?" "No, and even if he did, he would've left us a message." And then it dawned on them; there was an electronics store across the street from the theater, so they could buy a charger for the cell phone and check their messages. Without saying another word to each other, they crossed the street and entered the electronics store. After checking around the store for a charger that was compatible with their phone, the twins took it up to the cashier to buy it. "That will be 3000 yen for that charger, girls," he said. "Thank you," the two said as they paid him and take the charger. "Have a nice day." They were very relieved they plugged the charger into a nearby power outlet and attached the phone to it. Emiko took the phone out of the pocket on her side of their body, flipped it open, and turned it on. The first thing they noticed was that the got a new message. "It must be him," Emiko said. "Let's hope he's not mad," said Amiko. Emiko held the phone between them so we could both hear the message as it play backs. "Girls," came the boyfriend's voice, "it's me. I'm calling about our date today. Sorry, but I cannot make it; I have to stay at home and help my parents with housework. Maybe we could go out some other time. Okay, bye." The messenge ends as the twins are speechless for a few moments. "We came all this way for nothing?!" the twins screamed in unison as they clutching their hair, dropping the cell before sinking to their hands and knees with heads hung down in utter disbelief.

Of all the big mistakes they made in their lives, that wasn't the biggest of them all, but it was definitely up there. Fortunately, they managed to find something positive in the whole experience as Amiko says, "Well, I guess we learned a valuable lesson today." "What lesson?" asked Emiko. "We should always keep our phone charged properly." "Oh yeah, right. Besides, we got plenty of exercise today, didn't we?" "Hee hee. You're right; we did. Plus, now we've got a new phone charger in case the one we have back home breaks or disappears," Emiko said. "Yeah, that's true," replied Amiko as they got back up and held their heads high again. "So, do you still want to see that movie, Amiko?" "Emiko-chan, you just read my mind," Amiko smiles as Emiko grins in response. "Hee hee hee hee. I know."

After leaving the electronics store and crossing the street, the twins bought a ticket for the movie they originally planned to see with their boyfriend, not intending to spoil it for him. Though the movie was action packed, the twins could barely follow the plot-line as it lasts about a hour and 45 minutes. Daisuke was on his way home from work when the movie ended, and he was more than happy to give them a ride. They soon arrived to their house, with the twins getting out and going inside. They enter the kitchen as a two-headed woman was in the middle of making a meal. "Hi Mom" Amiko and Emiko said. Like their daughters, Ami and Emi are also conjoined twins. The two turn away from the sink, holding a knife in one hand, and a carrot in the other. The left head, Emi, said, "Oh good you are home." Ami, the right head, nodded in agreement. Soon after enjoying dinner with the family, then taking a bubble bath, the twins got dressed in their pjs before getting unto their bed. Compared to that afternoon, the rest of the day was pretty boring and usual to them. But if they could do it all over again, they probably would as long as they have each other to share the experience with.

It is a good story! I really liked it! Do you mind if I write a story about Amico and Emiko?
